Student' paintings to decorate Athlete Village

(BEIJING, September 22) -- The painting contest for primary and middle school students, themed "Green Dreams, Colorful Olympics," concluded here on Saturday, with 620 paintings awarded.

An initiave of the BOCOG Construction & Environment department and Media and Communications department, along with other organizations, this year's contest was launched in April. The event was the third one in a row and had aroused great interest worldwide.

Up till August, the organizers had received 6,914 entries – 5,826 from primary school students and 1,088 from middle school students -- from 112 domestic units, as well as 10 countries and regions that include the U.S.A, India, Singapore. To cherry pick the finest works, the organizers invited an evaluation panel of nine specialists to select 620 pieces of award winning paintings.

According to the organizers, the selected paintings will be used to decorate the Olympic athlete's village and media village and will also be compiled into a gift book.
